Same family owned since new through 2019. Other work included rebuilding of the radiator, fitment of a new water pump, a sport cam, slightly larger-than-stock Solex carburetor, Pertronix electronic ignition and a Stebro free-flow muffler. The original gearbox has been rebuilt, and though smooth-shifting and quiet, it’s recently developed a slow leak. This one’s had about 2,000 miles added since the build was completed, and benefits from recently changed oil. Earlier, “curly block” engines had somewhat flexible decks, frequently leading to premature head gasket failure. The engine is a NOS 875cc aluminum four cylinder of the later, more durable “straight edge” block design. The seller says it is a blast to drive and the car is sold with a clear title. Shocks are new, though kingpins will need replacement soon. Front brakes have been converted to discs, and all suspension components have been media-blasted and painted. All brake lines are new cunifer items, operated by a new Wilwood master cylinder. This shot shows off the new OEM replacement floor panels. A roll bar with reinforced mounting points is fitted. Throttle, choke and speedometer drive cables are all new, though the latter has recently begun to read low and both the tach and wiper switch are intermittent. A Moto-Lita steering wheel has been added, as has a center stack housing mechanical oil pressure and oil temp gauges and tachometer. Seats are BMW E30 Sport items, and the seller says they’re both much more comfortable and supportive than stock Sunbeam seats–the stock rear bench has been deleted. The interior has been refinished with new carpets, and as seen here door pockets retain the car’s original black paint. Pictured Cibie Oscar auxiliary driving lights are not included in the sale. but window and door seals are virtually all-new. The leading edge of the driver’s door shows some seam separation. Note the twin engine lid latches and separate lock and handle for the opening glass hatch. Sheet metal is straight, and wheels wear newer 185/60/13 Sumitomo tires. Resembling traditional Olde English White, it suits the car and complements Jensen alloy wheels nicely. Originally black, the car has been repainted in a modern BMW Mini color called Pepper White. The build is well done overall and this looks like an affordable entry for vintage rallies. Additionally, the gearbox has been rebuilt and the car wears new paint. The car is modified with a rear-mounted NOS 875cc aluminum inline four cylinder engine, Pertronix ignition, Stebro muffler, new clutch, new brakes with front discs, all new hydraulics and more detailed below. Work started with replacement floor pans sourced from England, though the rockers and wheel arches were in good shape and required no refurbishment. This 1965 Sunbeam Imp MkII was purchased by its Canadian seller nine years ago and has been put back on the road following a rally-inspired build.
